Entire woodwork based project in which students are required to design and make a wooden pencil holder shaped like a letter of choice. Pencil holder is made with pinewood and has been cut by hand to achieve the shape. Holes are drilled to hold pencils. Wood stain finish applied. Powerpoint resources containing 16 different editable slides on the topic of toy design/toy safety. Several slides are designed for use as a teaching visual aid that can be displayed to students in lesson to accompany the worksheets tasks, that can be printed. This activity involves students designing a new cover for an existing DVD, CD or book of their choice. Templates for each are provided, along with a section for the students to write about what DVD, CD or book they have chosen, what it is about and who the target market is. Before designing, students are encouraged to analyse a DVD cover for The Incredibles and identify key features on the cover. Ideal resource for cover work or as part of a scheme of work. This is a fully editable power-point slide that can be used to analyse and existing product. In the current example, students are encouraged to analyse a kid’s clock and re-design/modify it to suit a adult target market.
